  • 2019 Feudi di San Gregorio Fiano di Avellino Pietracalda

The 2018 pietracalda catches ones eye first with its sexy ribbed bottle, and then ones heart for its beautiful expression of the Fiano grape. The pale lemon color eludes to the sweet citrus, peach and apple notes found on its nose and on the palate. The fresh and direct aromas blend well into a simple but enticing package. Medium body and acidity translate well into a surprisngly persistent finish. A perfect complement to a summer evening, this wine has found a place in my heart and my cellar, especially for the mild price.

  • 2011 Fattoria Petrolo Galatrona

Decanted 2 hours before our first approach. Beautiful aromas of blueberry and rich chocolate, backstopped by subtle hints of vanilla. Continued to develop over the next 2 hours into a wide ranging offering of cherry, tobacco, red currant and blackberries. One finds themselves particularly appreciative of the harmonious blend between fruit, acid and tannin that allows this wine to dance across the palate into a lingering and delicate finish. Striking a delicate balance between power on the front of the palate from the fruit, and subtlety on the back end, this wine was in danger of being consumed fully before it had had a chance to properly develop. Patience will be rewarded at the table and in the cellar. Definitely designed for aging many more years.

  • 2016 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli

Still young, brooding and bounding with youth, we had to let this decant for 2.5 hours before the approach began to soften. On the nose we found deep concentrated raspeberry, rose petal, plum and leather. A delightful spread of firm structured tannins which give way to a minerally meaty finish. The finish abounds, developing into soft notes of meat and wood. A beautiful wine. Eesily has the structure to cellar for 20+ years.
