  • The Standout of the night, the Kennedy Cellars 2018 Cab Sauv was truly a sight to behold. Stored in French Oak for 28 months before bottling, the nose beckoned a person in over the 2 hours I enjoyed this delicacy. Notes of black currant, tarragon, anise and pipe tobacco are all blended subtly over the nose with Loamy Soil to perfectly punctuate a vivid image of the exclusive terroir that bore the fruit. The palate is a gorgeous meaty medium to full body with integrated tannins and a smooth texture once fully registered. The harmony of perfumed fruit and dark, textured depth make this an exceptional value for money and a wonderful contemporary to a pan finished dry aged ribeye.

  • Elegant, exceptionally balanced with linear yet integrated notes. This wine is beautifully perfumed, and continues to evolve in your glass as it opens up.

Vibrant red cherry, with a gravelly blueberry undertone. Lead pencil shavings, and dark chocolate. The acidity in this wine shines through, its perfectly placed, and brings everything together.
There is a gentle fine grained tannin, that is surprisingly less then one would expect for Mt. fruit at this age.

I let it decant for one hour, then drank over the following, while not needed the complexity of this exceptional wine opened up significantly with time. This wine is structured to age for multiple decades, and is far from its peak...

Having tried this wine on multiple occasions, it is one of the closest examples to Screaming Eagle (their 2016 vintage for reference) I have come across. Everything is beautifully placed, every characteristic is distinguishable yet integrated. It is beautiful wine. This is not what you would expect from Napa, or from Howell Mt.
