  • 2016 Domaine Vincey Champagne Grand Cru Oger

Really sexy youthful Chardonnay champagne. The aroma is so alluring with an onslaught of orchard fruit. perfect balance between green and yellow fruits; apples, grapefruit, orange, papaya and slight lemon purée. I am loving the toastiness this has; vanilla and almost a tinge of coconut/cedar. Good saline, salty tinge too.

The palate mirrors the aroma perfectly with a great width on the palate with very fine bubbles and such a precise, high acidity.

    This is astoundingly good.

  • 1994 Spring Mountain Vineyard Napa Valley Red Wine

93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot.

Very classical, old left-bank Bordeaux nose. Prunes, dried cherries, plums, grilled bellpepper, old dusted books and crumbled cigar leaves with an almost slight bonfire or charred wood.
The palate revealed that the wine both had acidity and slight harsh tannins still. Recurring prunes and cherries with a sliver of plum leading into secondary and tertiary notes old tobacco, wood spice and herbaceous hints.

  • 2018 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett

Before opening - even before this very tasting, we all agreed that this would be murder - but a murder we were willing to commit. We hope Herr Müller can forgive us.

The wine needed copious amounts of coaxing, as it had quite the sulphur/rotten eggs hint at first. Once it dissipated, subtle but sure notes appeared one by one. Notes of pineapple, slate, peaches, apricot and pear exploded onto the stage and became more alluring and synchronized for each whiff and each sip. It was ever so precise from the first glass and grew so to the very last. This will be an amazing beauty beyond measure in a decade we all presumed. My score is pretty conservative and is based on current experience.
