4/9/2024 9:09:00 AM - This reassures me! I thought you were angry with me (bad advice?) Apart from that, I'm still waiting for your report from the Sigaut evening? Excellent continuation and if you find Gaffelière 2022 not too expensive, jump on them, it's fabulous. Very very close to Cheval Blanc and better than Figeac in my humble opinion

4/9/2024 9:03:00 AM - OMG- I have missed all of your emails. I am on it. Computer and Spam hid everything. I apologize for the delays. Thank you for this nudge (on the app it doesn't show this only on the computer version which I am rarely on).

    3/8/2024 5:17:00 AM - Fantastique! Merci, Watches.

3/8/2024 4:06:00 AM - No, you don't have to do 25 km, it was in case you were going to taste or buy wine in a CNdP cellar. I strongly advise you in Avignon: Le Vinotage which is a wine bar on a barge. The choice of wines is superb (try the wines from the Escaravailles estate) but these are not real complete meals. Rather planchas of charcuterie or cheese, salads, fish soups.... Everything is local and organic. Magnificent and mucho romantico. Otherwise, for the best: La Vielle Fontaine and Hiely-Luculus. And finally, a great bistro, Le 42.

3/8/2024 3:10:00 AM - Thank you Watches! No budget. I tend to go either high or hipster; I don't do very well in the middle ground. (That is obviously a very broad characterisation... you know what I mean) Distance-wise - not too far, but will be able to travel as you say 25-30km if a restaurant has a really amazing list.

  • watcheslover says:

3/8/2024 1:22:00 AM - Yes, there are many. So that I can summarize for you, please tell me your budget level (luxury, gastronomic, popular, atypical...) and how many kilometers around Avignon? Because about 25-30 km away, there are the villages of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and other wonders

3/8/2024 1:09:00 AM - Hello Watches - I see you are based in Avignon, which is where I'll be headed for a weekend in April. I was hoping you might be kind enough to help me with a critical question: are there any restaurants with good wine lists in and around the city? Many thanks.

  • watcheslover says:

3/4/2024 1:36:00 AM - Otherwise, not far from there, there is a wine store that I love, with a huge choice of Northern and Southern Rhône, practically at the same price as at the estates: https://www.cavecoste.com

  • watcheslover says:

3/4/2024 1:14:00 AM - Bravo, you immediately chose the best of all for my taste. I think you will have no difficulty in making an appointment to taste his wines, but you can be sure that he will not have anything to sell you. The waiting list is very long and even I, who have been a customer for over 20 years, am only entitled to 6 bottles per year. On the other hand, if you go there, I can recommend a few wineries which work wonders at moderate prices and which should still have bottles. In Côte Rôtie, try Georges Vernay and also Graeme Bott and in Cornas: Vincent Paris and the Cave du Tunnel

3/3/2024 6:10:00 PM - Watches- I'm a big fan. Thanks for all your notes. I should be in Lyon in 2-3 weeks. Coming from California. I'm want to goto Gangloff (one of my favorites based upon your recommendation.). Any thoughts on getting in? I'll email them this week.

1/20/2024 1:16:00 AM - Sorry, I don't know this wine. In general, I try Burgundies, Bordeaux and Rhône and a little foreign wines

8/25/2023 8:38:00 AM - Thank you @watcheslover for your 2022 Tronquoy TN - Merci Bien! How would you rate the Tronquoy(-Lalande) 2016 vs 2018 vs 2022?

  • watcheslover says:

5/3/2023 10:51:00 PM - Hello MJP, thank you for your trust. On the other hand, I have far too much work to have time to comment on the Bordeaux. Like last year, I'm just going to put notes and only on my favorites. So don't be surprised if I only put 96 to 100/100. On the other hand, you can always ask me a question about one or two specific wines

5/3/2023 9:57:00 AM - I'm told you're a great follow. I look forward to reading your 2022 BDX reviews! Thanks in advance.

11/4/2022 10:03:00 AM - Hi Watches! May I ask what is your best and favorite top 3 (or top 5) Bordeaux wines you've had recently?

  • watcheslover says:

4/12/2022 7:03:00 AM - Wanted to thank you for such informative and enthusiastic notes on a large swath of intriguing Burgundy wines! Having scrolled through hundreds of notes including yours over the past year, I've added many red Burg wines I think will lead to some amazing drinking in years to come: Clavelier, d'Arlot, Leroux and Lambrays to name a few! Very appreciative of the time you devote to this passion. Ardeis (Tampa, FL)
