Wow. It’s wines like this that remind me how much more there is to learn. Realeased in 2021, with 50 months on lees. This is refined. It’s revised. It’s Maine apple cider. It’s soft citrus. It’s grapefruit, but not New Zealand cat piss. It’s gravely. Pineapple with a little skin left on. It’s grassy meadows after rainfall. It’s hot. It’s lively. It’s electric. I love it.

Now to research the varietals and soil

Solid wine. Could sit for another few years and really mature. On the nose, leftover scraps from making raspberry juice. All the green and thistles you could imagine. Followed by one of those cheap candles that has a berry medley. The alcohol is coated well with like 1000 of those strawberry candies that you got as a kid.

Dried and crumbled mint and tarragon. What I could only describe as the taste from having wet hands from replanting (don’t ask, but it’s good) and a zippy strip of granny tannins.

Lovely, paired with a Morrocan red stew

Better than a white Zinfandel? Debatable.

….but why is that debatable. Because they aim to accomplish different things. I won’t yuck someone’s yum (a dear friends saying that has infiltrated my mind) but I will point out, white zin is a sweet abomination of “normal” wine. It’s a sugary, pink “lemonade” And it sold for exactly that reason.

This is a confusing, am I a rose or am I a rosé energy.

Blood orange and pepper. Crisp and clean. It reminds me of a dry creek Ava Sauv Blanc.

The palate is a warheads, Meyer lemon drop. But it’s so synchronized that it’s beautiful. A ballet that the piano player didn’t practice but someone improvised.

I’m not ashamed to say this wine at $23 is reasonably price to represent such a niché class of wines. This is someone’s Picasso, and I praise them for it.

    Cheers.
