This is drinking very nicely - I expected it to be a bit tired but it’s not. Still plenty of vibrant fruit (sour cherries and strawberries and raspberries) but also bags of tertiary too dried fruit and leather. The oak is well incorporated and the complements the primary and tertiary well. There is a bitterness on the end palate but it doesn’t distract too much from the pleasant and long finish.

Dont drink this in flutes. I bought 6 of these, the first five I drank in flutes with friends. It was ok but nothing too interesting. I opened the final bottle last night and instead used a red wine glass - completely different experience. You need the right glassware to get that bruised apple and bready character wafting up your nose. I feel that I missed 5 opportunities here :(

Based on the recommended drinking window I was expecting this to be past its best, but it was delicious and could have gone a few more years. Still fresh and vibrant but with the added complexity of 19 years in bottle. I regret taking this to a neighbours house, didn’t have a decent glass and I wasnt able to get some needed alone time with this wine.
