100% Nerello Mascalese from 80 years old vines grown at 550m altitude, aged 18 months in large, neutral oak barrels, 14.5% vol.
Shows advanced notes at opening but gets totally different after 2 to 3 hours in the decanter and shows then red fresh fruits, tar and forest floor, on the palate medium+ bodied, fresh and a long finish with a slightly drying after taste.
Surprisingly elegant for its alcohol level and best with food. Not sure about its ageing potential, but I had the impression that it may win with a couple of additional years in the cellar, a long decant is highly recommended.

It took about 2 hours in a decanter to open up but when it did it was worth the wait. Menthol, treacle and sweet baking spice on the nose and macerated strawberries and sour cherries on the palate. Yum!

Colore rosso rubino scarico, limpido e tendente al granato. Al naso note di terrose,di cioccolato e frutta nera matura. In bocca abbastanza caldo, con un tannino ben composto e acidità che gli donerà parecchia longevità.

Decanted for an hour and a half. This becomes much more expressive with air. Excellent aromas of menthol and stony red fruits. Looks like Pinot Noir. Transparent Ruby. Definitely a savory profile of herbs, tannins and minerals. Reminds me a bit of Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and Pinot Noir, but different. Lovely.
