The wine had a very delicate bubble and a gold complexion. A little more oxidative in style. It smelled of bruised apples and citrus confit with the characteristic yeastiness you would expect of Champagne.

A Nebbiolo with a very dark complexion. It smelled of cigars, earth, and dark cherry. I decanted the wine for about two hours and it proceeded to lose some of the earthy/savory characteristics to showcase more of its florals and tart berry fruit. The last glass of the night was the undoubtedly the best a few hours after dinner. It was significantly less brooding and more in line with my expectations for the wine. Overall really pretty but took a while to gain its stride.

Required a fair amount of air. Upon opening it was barnyard and unpleasant. Two hours in the decanter and it lost its funkiness and gained a sweet fruited profile with an incredibly soft palate. A delicate cherry and raspberry with a faint potpourri. That being said, drink now. It felt like it was on the decline.
