Pale gold. On the nose is honeysuckle, lemon, and flinty minerality. As it warmed up in the glass, some soft peach aromas came wafting through.
Mouthwatering, juicy, tart, ripe, delicious. Lemon and apple on the palate. A nice touch of salinity on the backend, perfect integration of the fruit and acid.
Really opened up in the glass and changed dramatically as it warmed, became more voluptuous, but neither lost any of the minerality nor the mouthwatering juiciness.
Paired with Icelandic Arctic Char baked simply with Chef Milton Atlantic Sea Salt with Herbs de Provence, Poivre à la Bordelaise purchased at Boüard, and lemon juice accompanied by baby bella mushrooms and elephant garlic sautéed with Olive Oil and asparagus, finished with parmesan and lemon juice.
Absolutely delicious.
Serious wine. Not necessarily inexpensive but a great value. Honestly, such a treat to drink a 6-year old Aligoté of this class that I (almost) regret popping it open for just me. If you have a bottle, share with a wine-loving friend; they will appreciate it!

Very pale color. Fruity nose bursting with orange and peach aromas. More orange and peach on the palate, with some apple skin. Soft, round, creamy mouthfeel. Juicy acidity. Long, delicious finish. Surprisingly, this light, fresh rosé ends with drying tannins.
Combination of great acids, pure fruit, and drying tannins make this a great food wine.
Populis is another fun, small winery which produces interesting wines from those other grapes.
This blend of 60% Carignane, 20% Zinfandel, 10% French Colombard, and 10% Grenache is the quintessential “chill it down and slurp it up” red(dish) wine. Populis takes 1/3 of the must and do what they call a "reverse saignée'' where they press the 1/3 to a rosé, then add the pink juice back into the original tanks that now have less skins to create a wine with less concentration, a light red color, very high acidity, and low alcohol (12.5%).
Concentrated strawberry and sweet red apple are buoyed by bright acidity. Just a touch of smoke and leather add complexity.
I enjoyed it chilled down into the low 50s. This would be perfect with roast chicken, smoked turkey legs, or grilled salmon.
What a fun wine, so different and fun.
