Steve Matthiasson is one of the most sought-after vineyard consultants in California, a real legend, and he is also a daring and brilliant winemaker. I’m a big fan, have been for years. Luckily, I have more than a couple of his delicious bottles in my cellar.
His 2022 Rosé is brilliant. I drink more rosé than any other type of wine, with whites a close second, and then reds. Typing that makes me think I need to drink more sparkling wines.
This wine is, without a doubt, currently my favorite rosé on the market, period. I bought a case last year and have slowly been working my way through it.
Very pale salmon color is matched by the very light body. Bracingly-refreshing acidity. Subtle minerality, light citrus and berry fruits, with just the cleanest, most enjoyable palate one could ever hope for. Just a flawless rosé, so incredibly light and fresh and just plain delicious.
34% Grenache, 32% Barbera, 16% Counoise, 14% Mouvedre, and 4% other reds from the Windmill Vineyard and Muller Vineyard in the Dunnigan Hills AVA.

Another masterclass in rose from Matthiasson. Notes of strawberry, watermelon, lime, and cut flowers coalesce throughout, with hints of minerality weaving in. Acidity is on point too. Delicate and delicious.

PnP. Nice floral perfumed nose.
Super light on the palate with sparkling minerality with a salty finish. Pick up grapefruit and strawberries the most here with some lime as well

Crisply acidic, this mineral-driven rosé has lovely lift. Refreshing and zippy, perfect for the charcuterie board it was consumed with.
