This wine strikes me as young and suffered after drinking a stylish 2009 VHR. Concentrated and juicy black fruit with amped tannin and acidity (carries it well) that has a long (somewhat aggressive) finish. Dark chocolate and wet rocks show up. Everything was trying to integrate after an hour or so but not quite. Still a very enjoyable experience but I think a longer decant or time in the cellar can make this amazing.

A complex and layered Cabernet-based blend that should be drunk in next year or so. Garnet in color, full in body, nose of black tea and chocolate. Tastes of boysenberry, plum, black tea, and licorice, with a nicely integrated finish. Blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. 14.8% alcohol. My experience is that Carter's To Kalon's age better than the others, and this one is probably at its peak. Better on second day.

No notes but a thrilling, concentrated wine with balance and intense flavor. Black-blue fruit, earth, some acidity, mouth-filling and wonderfully crafted. Needs an hour (minimum) of air. Drank from half bottle at Will in Philly.
