Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • 100% Syrah vinified by Xavier Vignon, the famous oenologist of southern Rhone. The nose is, without doubt, very typical of the Syrah. The bouquet, open and expressive, gives prominence to ripe red berries (wild strawberries, sour cherries and blackberries), intense violet and aromatic plants (thyme and dry laurel). It's a bit wild: it reminds me of the south, probably more particularly of the scrubland. Its spicy character, very gracious, brings it a welcome freshness. The palate is damn elegant: the material is a caress. The alcoholic richness (14% abv), silky & coated tannins and relatively low acidity give it a significant power. Aromas of ripe berries, bitter cocoa, sweet spices and even tobacco blossom into a lingering finish that highlights floral notes and a noble salivating bitterness. This is a lovely Syrah, less dark and sunnier than its cousin from the northern Rhone. It's sold for less than 10€: amazing QPR!
