I don’t think anyone was in doubt that this was an older, high quality riesling. Always interesting to try +10yr old whites that is still worth drinking - but not magical in any way. Quite simple and one dimensional.

This has settled down considerably from a shrill, mean bottle that went down the drain 6 years ago. Just a hint of petrol on the nose, fairly round mouth-feel, good cut and a fairly lengthy finish. Very good, but it didn't really wow anyone at the table.

Yellow-green color. Intense nose of apricot, honey and minerals. Wonderful minerals and concentration. Totally dry with perfect structure. Well balanced acidity. A great Riesling with very little of the typical petroleum notes you normally find in high class Rieslings.

Corked. Potentially overheated. Completely lacking in any nuance, thin in texture, and acceptable only for cooking. Astringent and reminiscent of $3 'fighting varietals'. Worst GG ever.

Drank with sushi. Dry, nice acidity but a bit thin on the mid-palate.
