2023 Athens Wine Event; 12/8/2023-12/9/2023 (Athens, Greece): Tasted blind and arrived on fatigued palates after what could only be descriptors a magical line up of wines but still shown. Frankly we felt this is is 30 yr old Vinson to of the highest level as the wine had an impressive lightness to come along with the proper depth of flavour and density. Not that we have that much of experience with Esszencia level of Tokaji but sort of expected it to be solid and impossible to have but a few sips. This was plain magnificent and an experience to be treasured and testament to it is that even last it shown.95? 96? 97?

A year later, this is still such a treat to enjoy. An immense sweetness on the attack, only to be curtailed by an equally immense punch of acidity on the finish leaving you wanting more. This is still one of the most interesting wines I have tried with the viscosity of simple syrup and olive oil. There is such an intensity of flavor that assaults your palate with overwhelming concentrated flavors of dried apricot and dried plum, almost as if one was drinking apricot jam, followed by intense citrusy acid and caramel on the finish. This amount of acid and sugar will keep the wine alive for eternity and I can't see a reason to rush opening this unless you just want to drink a something truly special. (Served on a glass spoon)

Thick and viscose! Dark golden brown caramel colour - I agree with others that it looks like motor oil!
Caramel, molases, malt loaf on nose. So concentrated, thick and complex on palate. Such a slap in the face of flavour. Mature honey, dried apricots and pineapples, dried flowers, some prune and nut all underpinned by a pineapple and lemon acidity giving excellent balance.
Long, long finish showing the complexity and multiple layers and a lovely brown sugar finish at the very end. It keeps going and going in the mouth. 15 seconds, 30 seconds... a minute plus!
Excellent experience and so happy to have tried what many consider the "holy grail" of my birth vintage as my 30th birthday approaches!
From full sized 50cl bottle.

In this size this has entered its drinking window. Its the colour of motor oil, its silky and viscous, with lots of dried fruit and an endless finish. Very similar to old Auz fortified, except of course for the fact that the alcohol of 4.5%. Stunning

(Château Pajzos Eszencia (500 ml)) Maple-syrup-to-amber coloring. Aromas of rich honey, luscious caramel, dried nectarine, apricot, and cranberry-plum preserves are blended with brown-sugar-caramelized yellow and white stone fruits, dried and fresh—from apricot and nectarine to peach—followed by distinctive notes of dried white nectarine and dried Blenheim apricots. Finishes with a whirl of caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, and nutmeg flavors. Special Report: Tokaji

Extensive green rim on old oak colour; nose rather inexpressive; palate explosive, intense; lingering, glorious finish. Ageless.
