Straw yellow with medium viscosity in the glass. Very closed nose…barely detectable citrus and oak, which remained muted even after opening up. Initially flat on the palate, but chardonnay qualities showed after opening. Short finish. I'm glad I was able to taste this Meursault, but it did not impress. Nothing unpleasant, I just assume it's dead.

First tasted this when just released and showed absolutely nothing at all. Matrot wines seem very austere when young but boy do they change with a few years in the cellar. This is excellent and is the opposite in every way to what I had expected this wine to be. Nose was very open and expressive drawing you in. The rich (but not fat), oily texture is absolute melt in your mouth stuff. Plenty of minerality, great balance and one of the best value 1er cru White Burgundies going around. Drinking well now but still improving.
