Medium garnet. The nose is clean, of medium intensity and moderate complexity, with aromas of blackberry, cassis, plums, smoke, and a hint of cheese and wood on the finish. The nose is developed. The palate is dry, and very balanced, with medium alcohol, tannins, minerality, and acidity. This is a medium bodied wine, with medium flavor intensity and a moderately long (-) finish. The palate is consistent with the nose, with sweet black and red fruit followed by drying tannins and a hint of vanilla and wood. This wine is mature, ready to drink and possibly starting its decline. Drink now. Simple, slightly rustic, but eminently quaffable and food-friendly. A very good value.

Not bad for $13.99. Has the plum and wood nose and taste with a medium finish. Did kind of flame out after being open for a couple hours, got a tad flat. Don't believe this has any aging potential at 5 years old.

Very nice- similar to the '03 that I had in Fall '09 time has treated this wine well - and this is a good wine to lay down and if it doesn not age you don't lose a lot of $$$. Decanted for 30 minutes. Black cherry / bright cherry / menthol on nose. Similar palate with high acids, medium body and medium+ finish. Great with food. Nice blend between old school & modern Rioja. Would buy again. 89-90 range. [edit] On night 2 still going strong & more earthy undertones (mushrooms) apparent. More "90" tonight.
