Clear, deep garnet color- glass coating. Clean aromas of blackberry fruit & cassis, violet, melted stone, steak marinade- medium intensity, developing. Dry on the palate with medium+ acid, full tannins, full body and medium alcohol. Intense fruit flavors of plum and blackcurrant, along with wet-stone minerality, violets and dried herb notes. Balanced and layered with lots of intensity and depth- nice presence throughout. The tannins are fine and polished. Mouth-coating, full finish. Outstanding- this is really popping right now. Drink/hold.

A very nice Mendocino Ridge syrah. Big nose of forest floor, chocolate covered strawberries, white pepper, and some mushroomy savory notes. The palate was similar, but with more emphasis on the pepper and chocolate covered strawberries. Tannins were velvety, acid was in balance, and the finish was inviting of another sip. Another winner from Jason Drew.

Russian River & Anderson Valleys, April 27; 5/16/2013-5/21/2013: Densely-layered aromas of mushroom, earth, cassis and bacon. Beautiful ripe balance on the palate- rich blackberry & plum with crushed stone, spice and floral tones. Velvety tannins and a long finish. Excellent.

A very tasty wine. Nose doesn't give much of a hint as to what is in the glass. Just a hint of sweetness on the finish.
