Dark black purple, thin ruby meniscus. Explosive fruit and earth aromatics come out right with the cork. Grape jolly rancher, bright blackberry, root beer, cinnamon, smoke, dark chocolate, killer coffee grinds, boysenberry jam, christmas fruitcake, pine needles, sous bois, fertile loam and gravel and more on the nose. Just loads of stuff. Substantial mouth weight that treads lightly... Yeah, yeah, ok... Iron fist in a velvet glove works. Tannins are well-managed but thoroughly present (it's a young wine). The palate is similar but with more earth, smoke, espresso and tar. Does not exclude fruit, of course. Mouth coating and staining with a great, sappy, weedy finish. Wow appeal. Medium acid. Nicely integrated oak. Keeps changing with air. Makes a wine writer's pen flow;
