Finally got around to opening this with a carryout short-rib meal. Paired well, as you might expect. The wine is nicely balanced, not over-extracted, smooth thru the middle, but just a bit of heat on the end. Not sure it's getting better, but it's not spent either - I'd drink up in the next year or two. To my taste this is respectably good, but not quite great.

Napa boutique Cabernet 2009 Sylk Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Carlyn and Barton Vineyard ($35 in 2013). 500 cases made, vineyards on border of Stags Leap and Yountville AVAs. Mid-dark garnet, brick edges; berry, mint and light oak nose; balanced; mid-body; softening tannins; good Cabernet fruit and flavor; long semi-hot (14.1 alc.) finish. w/flank steak. 16.5 UC Davis scale, 91 other scales. Sadly, they no longer make and sell wine. Wonder who buys their grapes?

A nose of dark fruit and some spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied Cab, with black cherry, herbs, tart, off balance, over priced. www.winelx.com
Drank over 3 days with vacuum seal and refrigerated. It has the body to go that far.
Black cherry, oak notes and profuse but not tough tannins. By day three, tannins settled down but so did the fruit forward nature of the wine. Comes across on day 3 with some asparagus on the nose too and chewy drying tannins and chocolate covered raisins with charred wood.
Remember it being somewhat disjointed on day 2. Therefore, it either needs a vigorous decant or another 2 more years in the cellar.
