Immediately after opening, intense cherries, black plums, cocoa. But it's all in the front two thirds of the mouth and fades rapidly as it moves back, with very little aftertaste. With time in the glass this fades even more, and then ultimately fades catastrophically. The score reflects the wine at its best, immediately after opening. All of my instincts are that this wine is going to deteriorate very rapidly with additional cellaring. If you have this in your cellar, my personal feeling is that you should use this either for a big party (soon!) or as a cooking wine, where, for the next year or maybe two, I'd imagine it would be lovely. [Tasted over more than an hour and a half from the Jancis Robinson glass.]

Nice Zinfandel blend, aromatic, oaky spicy, light to medium body, good weight in the mouth without heaviness, bright cherry fruit throughout in excellent balance with oak and alcohol. Improved to 88 with 24 hours of air. 4+12+16+6

45% Merlot, 25% Zinfandel, with 12% Petite Sirah, 11% Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carignane and Cinsault. Yeah, I like the more Merlot forward nature to this vintage. Red and dark berry fruit on the palate, a little meaty/savory/ham in 7up note to the palate.
