  • From 375; deeper color suggests some maderization, nose initially shows oxidative character reminiscent of Sherry, golden apple, pear, cleans up with a little air, leesy, lacks some focus, I guess there is some mineral in there, fruit and acids along with oxidative character make this harder to decipher; moral of the story is to drink your 375s much sooner than 750s; a bit disappointing though not a large quantity to choke down- this is why I buy mags- much more forgiving.

  • Straw yellow green; nose suggests oyster shells, fleeting green but mainly yellow apples, tart and sour with a touch of honey almost bordering on red, crosses over to yellow pear, this wants to be more generous than it is, from 375, a kiss of creme fraiche, a striking quality to the nose and resiliency of frui, white flower finish.

  • Neal Martin Notes
92 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2018 Chablis Village, matured for 12 months in 80% stainless steel and 20% used oak, has a vibrant, fresh, classic Chablis nose that many other growers were not able to achieve in this warm year. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, vibrant and zesty, showing a touch of spice on the elegant finish. This must surely be one of the finest Chablis Village of 2018."

  • Solid entry-level Laventureux from a ripe vintage. Still had a hard, stone-cold acidity, though definitely much riper tropical fruit on the palate than previous vintages. Was a hit with the family. Drink 2022-2028. Technical score: 91. Enjoyment score: 91.

  • Opens to Eaux de Skunk which sort of dissipates, peut etre. Medium bodied or full bodied, as you find it. A spectrum of tastes and nuances, every Chablis taster is likely to discover appealing tones; but not an ensemble playing a work in harmony. I would not bet on aging to compose the fragments.
