Deep purple in the glass with quite a heady nose (some menthol and spice). Intense black fruit and grippy tannins. This should only get better over the next few years.

Full-bodied with much intensity. Blackberry flavours with hints of spice. Strong tannins give the wine guts. After the bottle had been opened for 24 hours, everything tasted different: softer, more elegant yet still fruit-driven. I am sure it has many years yet in its development.

Juicy, spiced, dark-fruited and complex, with a youthful charm but also great potential for cellaring, this Xanadu is a blend of cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. The cabernet provides body, black fruit and tannic structure, while petit verdot brings plushness and spice. The combination offers a huge amount of style and personality at the price point. This is an outstanding option for short to mid-term keeping and for enjoying the wonderful character of Margaret River cabernet. The wine will remain in French oak barriques until bottling around June 2022. Drink 2023 to 2030. 14-14.5%
