This really seems to have found itself after all these years. It took a little air but this settled into that brooding, mineral, grippy Pinot many hoped it would. Its a testament to just how slowly this is aging by the fact that on night two the fruit actually comes to dominate the expression. Shows more ripeness and richness which overwhelms the finish a bit. But that wine on night one is a winner. The last of my 06's. What a journey.

PnP. Opens with aromas of plum, raspberry, violets, earth, and forest floor. Still has lots of fruit with black raspberry, cherry, plum, earth. The tannins have softened in the long finish. Starting to show more secondary character. In a good place now.

Dark, somewhat muted garnet, deep, darker almost plummy flavors, bit of spice, some dried herbal notes, good acidity, still some moderate, fine tannins. Feels like a wine at it’s peak, and looking over the other side, not sure this has a lot of future upside, but it’s interesting and very drinkable now.

(Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Hillside) Dark red violet color; tart red fruit, iron and a touch of caramel on nose; delicious tart cherry, rounded, with depth, black cherry, minerality, sweet and firm tannins, powerful but elegant; long finish 94+ pts. (85% whole cluster, from Rhys's lowest yielding vineyard segment)

Very mature Pinot. Starts with earth and mushrooms and grows into berries and stone fruit. Finishes with leaves and strawberries.
