  • A very enjoyable Burg. Shows the 2006 character a bit - the fruit is a little riper than usual, the wine is fairly accessible at this young age. However, there is a shortage of mid-palate weight...to be expected for a less-than-perfect vintage. Guillon tends towards a bit of a riper, more modern style, and this comes through the profile of the wine. Overall though quite a decent value, and a nice Gevrey 1er to drink while you wait for your big boys from 2005, etc to be ready.

  • Great nose showing plenty of floral violet aromas, along with kirsch and ripe black cherry. More rich black cherry follows through to the palate, along with some blueberry, violet floral, dark berries and some spice. Moderate acidity with chalky tannins. Medium length finish ending on notes of black cherry and violet. Delicious nose here, although it's a bit thin and lacking some power on the palate. Enjoyable already but will be better in a few years. Very good.
