250ml bt. Deep amber, almost coppery. Richly marmalade and butterscotch sweetness, cut through with some brighter orange citrus notes and balanced by wonderful acidity keeping everything harmonious. Gaining depth and complexity with age. ****

I figured I would close out day 12 of Christmas with a little private celebration of my own. My first bottle of Tokaji. Initilaly, I get lots of dried Turkish apricots, orange peel, nutty oxidative notes, and burnt caramel with supporting flavors of golden raisins, ripe apple, mint, and smoke. Long and beautiful finish. As some reviewers on CT have noticed, this needs a little more acid (the sour flavors are there without the acid) to freshen it up. I also think the oxidative flavors are a bit too strong. Otherwise, this is delicious and really great for the price.
On day 3, I drank it from the Zalto White wine glass rather than my Riedel dessert wine glass and I think I liked it a little better from here. I got the acid I was looking for and less oxidative notes too. I detected smooth chocolate notes, and a juicier finish, almost like sweet cranberry juice. Delicious.
Good match with baked Brie with fresh black truffles, ok match with gingerbread, promising match with chocolate as long as its toned down, but not a good match with dried fruit and cookies. Really, as expected, best on its own. You miss the nuances otherwise.

Lovely rich caramel colour, some honeysuckle and orange peel on the nose. Palate is a little one dimensional though - cloying sweetness which lingers through the finish

Similar to previous notes, this has nice intensity and zeal, great orange zest, and a very pretty oily texture. Has improved more with age. This lasted very well over the course of about four days, with vacuum seal in the refrigerator - virtually no change over that time.
