Glad I finally popped the cork on this one. The wine is on it's downward slide. Still drinkable, but showing a barrel woody tobacco taste. That's something I shy from. I did drink this over a couple of days and it was stable.

It's not exactly the same wine it was when I drank the first bottle last May, but that's not a bad thing. This time around I'm getting almost no cedar, and more of a highly-flavored pipe tobacco. Still lots of dark fruit, and the non-flabby softness, with tannins playing "peekaboo!" I saw previously. Tonight's pairing was an eye of round roast, and again it worked wonderfully.

Deep dark crimson, with wide, slow legs. Blueberry, cedar, wet leather, and spice nose. Medium bodied, delicate yet powerful, blackberries, black cherries, well integrated sweet tannins, dark chocolate, and a long finish. Just wonderful.

We should have finished this off a year or two ago. It doesn't seem the additional time in the cellar has helped - getting to be geriatric.
