Beautiful burgundy color with a wonderful nose of black cherries and typical Pinot Noir spiciness. The flavor was similar, with the addition of some brown sugar in the ending. The wine was expansive, full, and rich, with depth, nuance, and a fine finish. This was what great wine (and Burgundy should be about). Forget those tired French wines. The less flavor they have, the more people carry on. Free yourself from the Burgundy hype. For years, you were drinking cheap Rhone wines labeled as Burgundy, and still the great ratings.

Sta Rita Hills tasting- Sunday 7/7: Dark and brooding aromas- spice, brambly earth, cherry and fig. Full notes of fig and black cherry on the palate with spice and hints of mineral depth. Fine ripe tannins and hints of spice on a breathy finish.

Nose is extremely complex; mostly spicy but with this fascinating almost cool, menthol note to it. On the palate it is extremely silky with more of a red fruit profile. Of the 2008 Sta. Rita Hills, Ampelos, and Melville B-C pinots, this is the clear winner. Goes to show that these pinots show their best with at least a few years of bottle age.

This drinks well now. No mistaking it for anything but CA pinot.

Young, but ready to drink. Lots of bright red and blue fruit. Very tasty and fun to drink. Hopefully well develop a few more traits in a few years.
