My favourite style of Madeira. Little bit sweet, little bit sour, but rounded up by such graceful complexity. This doesn’t taste like it aged a day. Beautiful nutty and fresh fruit character up front, backed by notes of tobacco, chocolate, roasted coffee, shiitake and wet cedar in the back. Long, salty finish. Dangerous to drink because it’s so damn delicious.

By the glass after a long dinner so not the best of TNs. Matured at least 25 years in oak casks this had a medium sweet and long taste, good texture and very madeira in a way. It has been opened for more than 2 weeks so had a lot of time to open up however it had a persistent sulphur like note on the nose which spoiled an otherwise beautiful wine. hhmm
