Dark garnet red. Sweet cherry, blackberry and menthol nose, jibe initially and later some spicy black fruit appear. Pnp. Tasting is sweet then some redcurrant acidity cuts through, it's warming, tight and fruity, background fine tannins. Very nice! Air brings deepening tannins, and balance remain fine Day 2, has tightened up, drier and more structured, tannins more evident.
Christmas Eve lunchtime with a ham and mustard sandwich.Pnp. Swirling cherry and menthol fruit nose, cassis behind, young and fresh. Oaky fruit opening, youth and simplicity, some peppery tannins too. Rather nice for an opening wine for the Christmas salvo. 3 days later still going strong and well. Has improved over the time with some air.

By the glass at Shabour , Paris. Freshly opened and served blind in one of those sommelier games we always end up playing . As far away from the traditional expectation of a Barossa Shiraz and to us was more of a Tourriga National style of wine that Dirk Neeport makes with that soft porty edge and cool climate feel. Definitely rich fruit, less spicy , a lot less prominent oak and a very unique in a way result. A first for us. 91 and with a lot of life ahead albeit we can’t comment on forward evolution of this.

Bright red, and surprisingly (and almost worryingly) thin appearance. Nose is alluring, and palate improves with time. Ripe berries dominate, with a dry, complex mid palate. Medium body and medium to long finish. Give it a long decant - continued to improve until the bottle was gone. Has years left, easily, no sediment - but smooth and integrated drinking as it is. Not a standout Basket Press vintage, but that’s a high bar - this is still an excellent wine. 95 and room to move
