La Paulée de Los Angeles Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - Santa Monica CA): Walkaround tasting. Magnum. Apple and quince throughout with faint lemon curd hints, and maybe even something tropical. Both bright and rich with lots going on through to its persistent finish. Very good already now, with further upside.

Pale lemon in color. This wine is difficult to judge at this point as there is a ton of new oak on the nose that overwhelms everything. Medium flavor intensity, medium+ acidify, medium body, medium+ finish. This got a lot better with a decant and two hours of air, but I would wait until the decade mark before opening another.

At the first whiff, this is so clean with pure yellow citrus and stony minerality. Elegant mouthfeel, medium bodied with a growing orchard fruit driven finish.
With air it took on more breadth, though lost some of its elegant poise. For me, this drinks very well now. 92/93

Assessing 2021 Burgundy-La Paulée de Los Angeles Grand Tasting (Fairmont Miramar, Santa Monica): Magnum. Light yellow. Some reduction but easy to get past. Pear and apple attack. Rich and layered, powerful in the mouth with a long lemony finish laced with stone. Outstanding and one of the top whites of the day.
