We'll be using this bottle to cook with. Bought this at BevMo during their 5cent sale (buy 1 at regular price, get the second bottle for a nickle). So I ended up paying around $7 to $8 per bottle. Didn't pair this with anything; just wanted a glass of red wine. The wine had almost no nose/bouquet, zero depth of character, it was overly tannic/acidic. It was flat as a pancake. Funny thing is, it was a bottle of Y.T. Shiraz that got me drinking wine just a few years ago! I had never bought The Reserve before and was excited to see it on sale at BevMo. Anyway, perhaps the bottle was flawed? I don't think so; they use plastic "cork" and it really popped when I opened the bottle. I think this wine could have used another year or two in the barrel or another month on the vine. Badly disappointed for a bottle I couldn't wait to taste. :-(

Relatively simple wine with good fruit and enough acid that it's not way out of balance.

Great nose of sweet spice. Fantastic mouth feel, like a whole meal in a glass. Loved it. Definitely worth the money.
