At this point, a little past it's prime. Would recommend letting it open up for an hour, as it was one-dimensional initially but began to develop some nice layers as the night went on. The nose was a little flat.

Had following and '08 regular Caymus and this held up very well. It all starts with quality fruit. But it is also apparent to me that Mark Herold has now taken this wine to the next level as tastings of more recent vintages prove.

Dense, opaque and viscous...unmistakable California Cab with spiced currant, black cherry, ancho pepper and tomato leaf, chocolate box and light cedar notes on the nose. On the palate the wine is smoother than expected with chalky tannins, decent acidity and surprisingly balanced alcohol. The palate follows the nose but tastes riper with voluptuous black fruit charged with baking spice and a light graphite mid-palate through to a rich but moderate finish. Enjoyable.

This bottle a real let down compared to my last. Flat and one dimensional. A little hot too. Maybe an off bottle - Or just past its prime.

Aired out over 4 hours prior to dinner. Lots of fruit left. Tannins fully resolved. Drink now - 2018.
