“The amazing world of Garrafeira Port”. Vertical tasting, wine #3/4. Aged in casks for 7 years, then to demijohns until 1978 when it was bottled. This has an array of aromas and flavours, some I have never experienced. The most complex and hedonistic Port I have ever tasted. Took me an hour to finish a glass and it was way too soon to be parted from such masterpiece. Medium+ amber. Eruptive aromas and flavours signed by delicate string of malt whisky, figs, prunes, coffee, dried honey, impeccable balance.

FTLOP 17th Anniversary; 11/18/2022-11/20/2022 (Seattle, Washington): Bottled in 1971. Decanted 1978. Cloudy orange-brown in color. Smoky nose with creosote, roasted chestnuts, some cinnamon, and woody notes on the nose. There's a richness in the mouthfeel but the sweetness and balance are way off. The bottle just feels tired and may just be an off bottle of this wine.

2019 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2019-9/28/2019 (Portugal): This wine was placed in demijohn in 1971 and bottled in 1978. Vegetative and woody notes on the nose with a touch of underlying orange peel. I can’t see the color very well due to the dim lighting, but from the nose of this, it seems old. Good acidity and some bitterness on the finish.

Wax capsule, but no intact cork. I hoped that the substantial wax capsule would save this Port... but it was awful. DNPIM.

Port Wine Day Masterclass: A Flight of the '60s (Six Senses Douro Valley): Funky, smoky, interesting nose, with some VA. Rich and unctuous body showing dried fig and raisin. Soft finish with good acidity.
