  • The drinking recommendation on this wine in Cellar Tracker was by 2003, so we opened and decanted this 1996 vintage carefully, not knowing what we would get. This wine is drinking beautifully now. We drank it with a flat iron steak marinated in a chipotle mixture that was a little spicy, not over the top. It went very well together.

  • Really a strange wine... Kinda proves that you should not age Alicante Bouchet from California. At first open very dark color (of course!) but with an overwhelming nose of freshly molded plastic. Really not nice at all but this eventually blew off to reveal some cranberry and pomegranate. I think most of what was keeping this wine at all interesting was the 25% Zin in the blend. Oh well. Note to Paul Draper: Don't bother with an ATP release of this again...
