Made from a single vineyard located at 720 meters of altitude, a blend 80 year old 60% Tempranillo and 40% Grenache, Graciano and Mazuelo. Aged in FR oak for 18 months, bottled unfiltered. Deep ruby colour. Intense aroma of blackberries, cocoa, coconut, leather, plums, chocolate, toasted oak. Full body, concentrated, powerful and deep with great structure, plummy flavours, toasted oak and chocolate hints, medium+ acidity, high grippy but fine chewy tannins.

Beautiful showing of the Tempranillo grape : full bodied wine without going over the top. The fruit is perfectly ripe without any stewed or boiled impressions. A lot of herbs and spices, that come partially from the ripening process, so the wood is quite dominant on the pallet, it is nicely done but just a fraction too much, preventing a 93 score. Fortunately the lively acids deliver freshness. This Norte 2009 offers an excellent glass of wine!

upon opening, thin and boring and a little smooth, but with surprise tannins that are anything but integrated. the next few hours there eventually developed more depth and complexity, but the tannins became big and dusty and aggressive and made this hard to enjoy on its own. i think this could turn into something nice, but that's at least 10 years away
