This was a solid and enjoyable Napa red with plush fruits and ripe tannins, but overall balanced and not over extracted or super ripe. The palate had decent freshness and was overall good with ribeyes.

Puerto Vallarta - Taken to dinner at Barcelona Tapas House in The Centro. The 85 degrees/80% humidity was not conducive to red wine drinking but we soldiered on by having the staff give us a Champagne bucket. The wine is robust but not overly tannic. Strong blackberry and plum flavors went well with the Arrachera but not so much with the other tapas. Score is partly based on previous tastings since I knew the wine is good but the environment was wrong. A reader might ask "Then why take good wine to Mexico"? Because after 4 days of shitty beer you need something good to drink, even if the correct temperature window is about 4 minutes.
This is an average bottle of Zin blend. Opened for about 20 minutes before tasting. Nose opened up throughout the dinner; however, there were tart notes which really muted the flavor of the wine. Cherry, mint, and some earth.

Held up very well, soft and good fruit. Easy drinking with a meat loaf and salad dinner. (Rarely do I eat meat loaf -)
