  • Happy Valentine's Day! We had this wine with our roast, herbal chicken leftovers. Similar to the 2010 (which we had last night), it showed notes of cherry, kirsch, asphalt, tar and some minerality on the finish. A good pairing.
These were $17.29 / bottle (with free shipping) August 2013. Great QPR and deal, for a wine the critics didn't like (then).

  • What this wine demonstrates is that the critics, rating the wine early in its life, aren’t all that good at seeing the future. But of course - it makes sense. Low scores, no enthusiasm from the critics in 2011 and 2012. A decade later, this is a beautiful wine - and it cost next to nothing. Beautiful mouth feel, slightly acidic leading into the finish, deep red and black fruits, earthy. Really quite a lovely wine. Happy to have had it around on a Friday night with pot roast and gravy.

  • This has greatly improved after two more years in the cellar. At first, there were still the rather syrupy flavours, but these disappeared quite quickly, replaced by fresher flavours of blackcurrant and earthy blackberry, with a decent backbone. It all makes a very good weekday wine. No hurry, this has a good five years left, perhaps more.

  • Nice tannin, body a bit thin but secondary flavors sustain

  • Dense and ripe and has softened enough to be drinking well. Olive and roast meat notes. I didn’t find it very cohesive but it would be good with a fatty prime rib.
