Weekend at Bernie's; 2/25/2022-2/27/2022 (Vero Beach): Stunning. Contender of the top champagne and really of one of the top wines of the weekend. It's not really showing much age yet but it is super interesting. There's layers and layers. Mostly that kindof spicy notes which I don't think of in a BdB but which this had in spades. Elegant. Not sure in the long run this doesn't beat out the '80 DP but for this moment in time the extra 19 years prevailed for me.

Baked apple, lemon, cotton candy, honeysuckle, and yeast aromas. Ripe green apple, strawberry, and coconut flavors with tons of minerality and chalkiness. Extremely complex tertiary aromas and flavors. Fantastic, racy acidity that carries the wine. Rich and dense with a super smooth texture and extremely fine bubbles.
You could age this for a few more years, but not sure why you would — it’s really fantastic now.

From magnum it was fresh and airy, ethereal, like a spring wind. Initially it had some vegetable and cucumber notes, but they morph into white fruits and some bready notes. What I didn't like was - it lacked the depth on the palate, probably the result of not so good a vintage. Elegant overall, but not a showstopper.

50th Birthday Tasting (Vesterbro): Starting to show a lot of age but still with the characteristic acidity push in the aftertaste. Lovely wine

Around the fire. More Honeycomb than the 96. Real cold from the snow. Still holding strong. I’d give it another 5 years, but tops now.
