Taken to a lunch party. Was opened and decanted. Had one glass - really good now, softer than previous bottles, more integrated. Hope they enjoyed the rest!

Escaravailles Cairanne le Ventabren is a bit of a favourite house wine for me (since the great 2007 vintage) and this is my first taste of the 2012. It is drinking beautifully already and met all my expectations. Crunchy red and black fruit with some crushed rocks. A bit if chocolate and kirsch, but not in an alcoholic way, but rather in a good cherry flavoured way. I am glad I have 11 bottles left. As before, i think this is at its best when slightly chilled (15-16 degrees celcius or thereabouts).

May not last forever as not great vintage but this is still fabulous southern Rhône with punch and finesse. Top value wine.

Fruity, well rounded tannins and good concentration. Drinking well now so no need to wait.
