Was it flawed or is this wine now entering a horrible downward spiral, the boat capsizing as the fruit abandons the sinking unbalanced ship leaving the vessel a thin and clumsy astringent alcoholic mess. Ick.

Drinking very well balanced dark fruits and an underlying savouriness without the alcohol intruding too much. Needs to be matched with some robust food.

Dark ruby. Dark fruit and allspice on the nose, some leather notes as well. Ripe dark fruit on the palate - black cherries and cassis - enlivened by a juicy, mid-palate acidity. Some cedary and peppery spice as well. Finishes full and on the fruit, with savoury tannins. Finely balanced and a pleasure to drink. Lovely stuff. 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Carignan.

Not much on the nose. High alcohol quite discernible this time. The wine was a relatively savoury profile this time with muted dark fruit, leatheriness. Not like the last bottle. I'll have another go with something like a steak - lentil soup wasn't quite the ticket but the bottle was to hand and the flesh was weak...
