Tamarack Cellars is located in a restored World War II fire station and barracks where this wine is aged in French Oak barrels. Lighter than a Cabernet Sauvignon this varietal showed some complex notes of oak black pepper that had a long finish of leather and smoke.
He Said: 91 She Said: 89 ... which went up to a 93 the longer the wine aired.

Great nose of blackberry and some liquorice. Herbaceous sensation in the mouth, but a pepper and spice finish that grabs you, a touch of green in there. Really nice.

Inky color with violet edge in the glass. Dusky nose with hints of cardamon and cinnamon. Notes of tobacco and buttered toast give way to vanilla and sour cherry and dark chocolate on the finish. Tamarack’s take on the rusticity of the cab franc variety is spot on with a unique signature that is all their own.

N: RIPE berries, tobacco, poss tomato leaf
P: MF body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by some astringent pucker which only somewhat resolves by the LONG, balanced finish with a bitter/swtness to the dusty tannins, but ULT a pleasantness. NEEDS through '21, I'd guess, then drinking for 3-4 yrs more. 14.1% ABV; My VG+/EXC-, the higher ult. 91 pts WS, 90 Dunnuck, & 89 WE @ $30. '19 contest results: Platinum (94 pts) @ S.D.
