Occasional tasting group (By TBa @ WN Top South America plus some extra's.): Not so many notes about this wine. In the bouquet dark forest fruits and good oak. On the palate dark forest fruits, sweet spices, chocolate, a good balance between acidity and sweetness and a good length. A bit more luxurious than the basic Catena Alta, but the difference was not that big. 92 - 93
Surprising amount of fruit for a wine of this age. Very smooth and rich but just lacked a little acidity to cut through that for my taste which left it a little on the flabby side. If you like big, international reds you certainly won't be disappointed with this however.
Very good bottle of red wine... Tannins resolved and plenty of fruit left. To my taste however must be at its prime or slightly past. Surprisingly crispy fruit notes given the time this wine spent in oak.
Very primary - juicy stuff; black, dense, sweet, very concentrated. It is a bit roasted with notes of cocoa, chocolate & coffee, new world style, but cool, nevertheless, and extremely well made. Bravo. #homealone#ribeye#onthegrill
