This wine has lovely ripe red fruit flavors; earth, garrigue, stone, leather, and pencil; and very good/refined structure/acidity to back it up. Our impression is that everything has come together at this time of drinking; it was a pure pleasure from our last bottle of this.

Popped and poured. Medium ruby red. Mild sediment toward the end of the bottle with some light coating of the bottle. Nice nose of seaweed, cherry sauce, singed alder, and raspberry. The mouth is characterized by a range of red fruit flavors, juicy textures, and a somewhat sappy finish flowing into a nice iron tug. There’s an undercurrent of cold stones throughout. This wine is drinking well and enjoyable now. 91 points.

This wine is aging nicely with plenty of time ahead. Nose shows spiced tea, herbs, perfume and beef drippings on top of red and black currants. Full-bdied, tannins still strong, moderating acidity keeps it quite balanced. Juicy raspberry and red currant fruit still going strong, but this wine is loaded with earthy, savory, spicy notes (tobacco, leather, grilled herbs, rocky minerals, sage, scorched earth). Integrated nicely at this point in its evolution, but still bold and grippy and deserving of more time.

Second Sunday Group: 2009 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (R&D's): Double blind. Bouillon cube and stewy dark fruit. Currant, cherry and bouillon cube on the palate. Drinkable compared to wine E (corked), but only by that comparison.

Slightly funky aftertaste at first. After 30 minute decant blew off. Nice for quaffing. Not that complex or distinct but good representative of CdP
