Wonderful wine tonight for Valentine's Day! Still a good bit of life left on this one as the bubbles were still fine and the flavors were a little bit of butterscotch, marzipan, and plenty of oak on the nose as well. A beautiful wine after 18 years of life and I would most likely drink up in the next 1-3 years.

Purchased in Jan 2022. Saved for our 17th wedding anniversary (2005). The color on this is bold and stunning. A deep 24k gold color. Otherwise clear with fine bubbles and strands. Nose is concentrated and plush with brioche, oxidative apples, baked notes/yeast. Flavors are the same and extend on forever. So pleasing.

Much more advanced and oxidized that my prior note from April 2020. Color much darker, very similar to a deep fino sherry. Rich autolytic notes, toasted almonds and bruised red apple. A little too oxidized for my tastes, unfortunately. Not sure if it was cellared poorly (55° and 60% humidity after receiving from the winery in early 2020, so doubtful), bottle variation or just characteristic of the wine with age.

Darker color, slightly oxidized. OK to drink, wife wouldn’t. Drink/Sell

Nutty. Showing signs of age. Richer qualities as a whole. Baked yellow apples and slightly burnt honey.
