The overt fruit has been replaced by nice black tea and mineral notes dominant through out. Not an "in your face" wine, but certainly a great expression of the varietal, especially at its price point.

Very dark, right to the rim, looking younger than its five years. Beautiful nose of dark cherry, plum and spice. On the palate there is a thick, viscous mouthfeel with dusty tannins. Coffee, spicecak, mocha and dark cherries come through almost with a blast. This is a cab lovers merlot. It is a very big wine, but it is in proportion. Has almost a Trotanoy-like masculinity to it. This is the best Woodward Canyon merlot I've tasted since the 98. This is just begining to be ready to drink but I think time will only improve its score. I could easily see this wine going strong at age 15.

A great bottle of Merlot. Wish I had a case more.

Yummy. Rounded mouthfeel and lots of chocolate, but not overly complex or structured.

Dark color. Black cherry, very dark chocoloate, spice through out. Another excellent Merlot from Rick, first I have had of this vintage.
