My first Auteur and wow. This is our style of pinot - plush and ripe, yet not sweet. Hard to believe this is a 2008 cali pinot. This only took a few minutes to open up and drank very well until the last drop, with a fair amount of fine sediment which made decanting quite helpful. Red fruited but not acidic or tart; yet bright. So well balanced and easy to drink. My wife said "un pinot like, but wanted more. Me - 93/94, Wife - 92/93

Tasted double blind. Black fruit with dried herb and anise. Good balance, nicely fresh. I correctly identified this as US Pinot Noir, but thought it younger. At first I almost thought it Burgundy Villages from a young, ripe vintage, but a little more lush sweetness started emerging within 10-15 minutes.

A bit on the overripe side for my taste.
