Inget fel på flaskan, vi var några erfarna provare som såg fram emot detta möte. Men det var otroligt platt, både i doft och smak. Päron, citrus, tunn, kort eftersmak, enorm besvikelse! Ingen ytterligare potential såg vi heller i buteljen

A blend of Macabeu (45%) from a vineyard planted in 1962, Parellada (35%) from a vineyard planted in 1974 and Xarel-lo (20%) from a vineyard planted in 1969. Aged for a minimum 48 months (4 years) on the lees under a natural cork. No dosage. 12% alcohol. Tasted blind.
Bright, pale whitish-green color with subtly yellow highlights. Surprisingly youthful for its age. Complex and very attractive nose with aromas of ripe Golden Delicious apple, some vanilla custard, a little bit of peanut butter, light autolytic notes of toffee and creaminess, a hint of fresh orchard fruit and a subtly herbal touch of crushed mint leaves. The wine is ripe yet dry and quite broad on the palate with complex flavors of juicy citrus fruits, leesy creaminess, some autolytic notes of brioche, light vanilla custard tones, a little bit of chalky minerality, a hint of ripe white fruit and a touch of spicy red apple. The wine is high in acidity with wonderfully persistent, creamy mousse. The finish is ripe and juicy with long, nuanced flavors of autolytic brioche, some evolved notes of caramel, light tangy notes of tart green apples and grapefruit, a little bit of leesy creaminess, a hint of saline minerality and a touch of nutty complexity.
At approx. 50€ Kripta might not be the most affordable Cava out there, but it nevertheless manages to deliver for its price, always. It's not really a wine you'd readily confuse with a Champagne, but it's quite distinct from your run-of-the-mill Cava as well. There's quite a bit of fruit and ripeness here, but there's also a wonderful streak with structured acidity and while not coming across as super toasty, there's still enough autolytic complexity to keep any fan of more toasty bubblies satisfied. The wine is starting to show some age now, at 12 years of age, but the overall feel is still quite youthful and I can imagine this wine will continue to improve for many more years - maybe even more than a decade. While very delicious already now, I'd say this is a keeper. It will reward any further aging. Highly recommended.

Tyvärr var våra förväntningar för höga, hela sällskapet är eniga om att den är väldigt tunn, utan större djup eller komplexitet

Damp attic minerality, citrus rind, rubber, dish cloth, low acidity. The most exciting thing about this bottle is probably the shape.
