Unlike the last few past-prime bottles, the final bottle from the case was fantastic. Fascinating to me how much variation there has been once this reached full maturity, there is definitely something vibrantly alive here :).

This bottle is past optimum drinking, orange / bricking with nicely-developed secondary aromas and good acid backbone, but now missing enough fruit for proper balance. The few remaining will still make interesting bottles for daily drinking.

From Magnum. Lovely color with a bit of fading. The nose shows aromas of Raspberry, spices, earth, flowers and a hint of game. This is medium bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and very good class. The fairly long finish features integrated tannins. Delicious and at its peak.

After a bottle a year or two ago that was flat, this was back to what I expected - still some primary fruit and tannin with developing tea and cherry and earth secondary goodness, somewhat coarse texture, a streak of green. Try again at 15 years, should be pretty good then.

The best wine I think I have ever had from Mercurey. Out of a magnum, this was very approachable without much of a decant. The first thing you notice is how balanced and delicious this is. Lovely raspberry and cherry palate with pretty nose, medium weight and some nice subtlety. Wine that pairs well with a variety of food.
