Garagiste

(Bel Air Royere) Bordeaux Dear Friends, Yes, value is still alive and well in Aquitaine. I'm off to pick up Cinzia Merli for tonight’s Le Macchiole dinner but this deal was too good to pass up... I will refrain from using expletives to describe the current state of the 2009 Bordeaux market but, instead, offer a token from the previous “vintage of a century”, 2005. Made with the help of wunderkind Christian Veyry, Bel Air Royere is a prime example of what can be accomplished in the Blaye during a top campaign. It’s an in-your-face, yet still velvety style that took advantage of the muscle that sets 2005 apart. This is not a lilting Cotes de Blaye – it has more in common with a rich St. Julien that has started to soften than its neighbors in the Bourg (or Blaye). The key to “cheap” pricing right now is to find wine that few care about – i.e., wines that are perfectly grand, with a touch of bottle age and the pedigree to improve. Here is one: A Chateau moving toward the big time in a hurry (I urge you to read current TNs on the wine, not just the original bottle reviews from 3-4 years ago)... ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price directly from the source: 2005 Chateau Bel-Air La Royere (Blaye) - (compare at $30-40+, even more in the US, this is not Les Ricards, this is the grand vin) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 12/person until we run out To order: niki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to arrive in a few weeks (please check OARS for local pick up after July 15th). It will ship during the Fall shipping season (be sure to cellar a few bottles for at least 3-5 more years – there is no hurry). Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure. For current local pick up and arrival/ship information, please see your OARS link below (at the bottom of this offer) - don’t know how to access your OARS? Simply click the link and see your account.
