I'm a little disappointed with this wine. Have been a fan of this Merlot since I discovered it while working at the winery. In the Blackstone lineup, Merlot has always been their strong suit. For the price it has always been varietally correct, with decent character and structure. This one is by no means undrinkable, just seems a little lackluster. Maybe for $8.19 we should shut up and drink. Starts out with that real magenta rimmed color we associate with Merlot. The nose is a little weak, but exhibits some light floral notes, like violets along with crushed red raspberry. It is well past medium bodied. But where is the flavor? Nothing wrong, but not much here. Decanted and splashed, swirled and whirled. Tastes manipulated, and heavily filtered with almost no mid palate, and not much finish. Will try another bottle.

Blackstone Merlot seems to always be a safe value. Good balance but seemed weak when paired with cheese.

Aromas of artificial grape candy and plum. Unbalanced fruit bomb with some bitterness. Short finish.
